Meet Jessica Gordon!
Originally from Kansas, I moved to the D.C. area nearly two years ago after living in Los Angeles, CA for a short time. My husband Tony and I were married over two years ago after I finished nursing school. Our wonderful daughter Sophia was born here in Virginia last July and she has brought more joy to our lives than we could have ever imagined.
I have never considered myself an athlete and prior to Stroller Strong Moms (SSM), exercise wasn’t a constant in my life. Previously, my exercise routine consisted mainly of occasionally using an elliptical at the gym a few days a week.
After having Sophia, I decided to leave my profession as a nurse and stay at home with her. Soon after, I joined a new-moms group and through that group I heard about Stroller Strong Moms. I thought SSM sounded fun and being outside was a nice perk. My first class was really intimidating, but everyone was so friendly and encouraging that I wanted to keep coming back, even though the workouts were tough. All of the instructors bring so much energy to each class that an hour long workout seems to go quickly.
I have been inspired by so many of the moms at SSM. I feel like I have already seen so many positive changes in my life since joining Stroller Strong. I just ran my very first 5K and couldn’t believe that I was able to run the entire thing. I definitely feel inspired to continue improving my health and fitness. My experience has even gotten my husband joining in, as he has signed us up for a family 5K in May that we’re looking forward to. I’m really excited to start the Get Fit Challenge and to see what improvements I can make!
