SLAM Boss
Amanda Hoffman | fortknox@sweatlikeamother.com
Amanda is a military spouse and mom to one awesome little guy. She is an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor and is First Aid and CPR/AED certified through the AHA compliant organization ResusciTech. She is also a To Birth and Back Movement Professional, and Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach. Amanda was born and raised in southern West Virginia. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Comprehensive Mathematics with a minor in physics.
Amanda has always loved athleticism and fitness – playing recreational sports her entire childhood and dancing through high school and college. She never had trouble prioritizing her workouts, even as s new mom, but having a kid made her feel isolated and in need of a community. She joined S.L.A.M. Sweat Like A Mother Leavenworth in September of 2021. After a few months of fooling herself into thinking class passes were the right way to go, she joined the monthly unlimited members and never looked back. S.L.A.M gave Amanda the community she was missing and reignited a passion for helping others pursue their fitness goals. Amanda’s favorite S.L.A.M. class is Heavies, but she can’t resist a good dance at the end of a hard workout either.

The Fort Knox Team
Chrissy Gibbs | Instructor
Chrissy is an Army wife and mom of four boys (ages 7-13). She has been involved in SLAM for 3 years, after originally resisting her friend’s requests for months. She was introduced to SLAM in 2021 in Leavenworth Kansas (where she first met SLAMBOSS Amanda!) before her family moved overseas to Germany, and had only SLAM Virtual as an option. She decided to open SLAM Grafenwöhr in 2023 to help support the local community, and handed it off shortly before moving back to the states in 2024. This is Chrissy’s second time at Fort Knox (previously spent 2010-2015 in the Bluegrass State), and knowing that she was reconnecting with Amanda at SLAM Fort Knox made the move so much easier!
Chrissy is an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor and is First Aid and CPR/AED certified through American Red Cross. She is also a To Birth and Back Movement Professional, and Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach. Her favorite ways to sweat are dance, HIIT, and heavies classes.
Abigail Morgan | Instructor
She started SLAM at Knox in summer of 2023 and fell in love with the community! As an early bird, she loves coaching the 6 am classes (SLAM the Alarm) and loves jumping in for the sweaty in person 9 am classes, especially ones that involve running and HIIT!
Hannah Bowen | Instructor
Growing up in the great outdoors of upstate New York, Hannah enjoyed snowboarding, running, and hiking. Parenthood coupled with frequent relocations drove her to the gym where she quickly found love for functional fitness/powerlifting. Quickly discovering the mental and physical reward of lifting, she was inspired to help others benefit from lifting – especially mothers/military spouses.
Hannah joined SLAM Fort Knox to instruct heavies but admits she is still mind-blown by the tribe-like atmosphere and endless amounts of strength and grit each member brings rain or shine!
Maria-joelle Morris | Instructor
Maria is an Army wife and mom of 3 (6,8 and 10). She has been involved in SLAM since its inception at Fort Knox. This is Maria’s second time at Fort Knox and as her husband retired, they remained in Vine Grove.
Maria was born in Belgium to a military family (Father, brother, nephew all in the Army). She moved to Ireland when she was 3. She met her husband James at 28 when he was stationed in Germany and she was working in the software industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in I.T. and speaks 3 languages.
Maria is a NASM certified Group Fitness Instructor and is First Aid and CPR/AED certified through American Red Cross. She is also a Certified Yoga Instructor through Yoga Alliance.
When not SLAMming, Maria is employed by the VA to teach yoga and relaxation techniques to Veterans, and by MWR to teach yoga and bodyweight exercises as unit PT.
She spent some time in Indonesia pursuing advanced yoga studies in order to become a 500HR registered yoga teacher (in process) and is hoping to start a degree in PT.
She’s passionate about nutrition, movement, and meditation. In her free time, she makes sterling silver and gemstone jewelry.
Her favorite ways to sweat are a combination of mobility, bodyweight, and resistance training and her classes are a combination of all 3.
Her playlists are often epic. No, really.
She would love to travel more and she loves to make friends!
